The first stage of the Great Names of Russia competition has come to an end, following the results of which names for 45 airports of the country will be selected in early December. The head of the press service of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, Alexander Volkov, in an interview with the radio station 'Moscow speaking' expressed the opinion that it would be logical to see the names of Alexander Nevsky, Dmitry Donskoy, Sergius of Radonezh and other Russian saints in the lists. He also noted that such decisions should be made 'on the basis of broad public comment ... which will allow you to see a snapshot of public opinion.' Let us remind you that the lists with variants of names for the airports were formed by the regional Public Chambers, and then were sent to the Federal Chamber, which will have to finally sum up the results no later than December 5. The names of the devotees of Orthodoxy are also included in the lists. For example, as one of the variants of the name for the airport of the city of Anapa, the Public Chamber of the Krasnodar Territory 'relying on public opinion' proposed to name the name of Mother Mary - nee Elizaveta Kuzmina-Karavaeva, a member of the anti-fascist resistance, who was held for two years in the Ravsensbrück death camp, which at the beginning of XXI century was canonized by the Constantinople Orthodox Church.
