The head of the Roman Catholic Church announced the future appointment of fourteen new cardinals. As TASS specifies, this will happen on June 29 at a special meeting - the consistory - dedicated to this issue. During his sermon on the feast of Pentecost (according to Catholic calculation), Pope Francis announced the names of the new princes of the church to the believers gathered in St. Peter's Square. These are prelates from different states and from different continents. Among them are the Chaldean Patriarch of Baghdad Rafael Sako, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith Luis Ladaria, Papal Vicar of Rome Anjedo De Donatis, Deputy Secretary of State of the Vatican Giovanni Angelo Becchu, 'alms collector' Konrad Kraevsky, archbishop of Karachi, Jozepis , Archbishop of Aquila Giuseppe Petrocchi and other hierarchs. Pope Francis devoted a special part of his sermon to the situation in the Middle East. The Pope said that he feels his involvement with those who had gathered the day before for joint prayer in Jerusalem. Hearing the words 'Jerusalem' and 'Gaza,' said the head of the Catholic Church, he feels pain and hope.
