In the Republic of Alania, the liturgical system in the Ossetian language is being restored

В республике Алания восстанавливают богослужебную систему на осетинском языке
In five years, the Vladikavkaz diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church will celebrate the 1100th anniversary of the baptism of Alania. Perhaps the most important among the measures for the preservation of the national spiritual heritage carried out in preparation for the anniversary is the full recreation of the liturgical rite in the native language of the Ossetians. According to Vestnik Kavkaza, the ruling bishop of the diocese, Bishop of Vladikavkaz and Alan, Leonid, confirmed that by the anniversary date the main liturgical texts will be translated into Ossetian and church hymns will be written. The translation commission, composed of linguists, theologians and clergy representatives, is already working - its meetings are held weekly. In addition, there are continuing education courses in North Ossetia where philologists teach the clergy of the diocese the 'church Ossetian' language. It is interesting that the previous translation of the liturgy into Ossetian was made in 1912 and was used for divine services until the beginning of the godless time. Its text will be preserved in the diocesan archives to this day. And in 2014, in the Vladikavkaz Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, the first liturgy in the Ossetian language was performed in many decades.
