According to NIA-Novosibirsk, on August 15, the ship-church 'St. Andrew the First-Called' began a two-week voyage, during which the ship will make stops in 47 settlements along the Ob River. During this time, many people will be able to undergo a medical examination, talk with priests, get advice from social security specialists, the pension department of benefits, a center for social services for the population, and low-income citizens - one-time financial assistance. The ship-church and its crew have been conducting their charitable mission for 22 years. During this time, more than one hundred thousand people received help in one form or another. The annual charity event is held at the initiative of the government of the Novosibirsk region and the Novosibirsk Metropolitanate of the Russian Orthodox Church with the support of local government bodies in a number of rural areas. This year the team of thirty people came to wish a happy voyage to the Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Yuri Petukhov and the Metropolitan of Novosibirsk and Berdsk Tikhon. “We have many projects for social work with the Government of the Novosibirsk Region and local authorities. This is especially important in the current Year of the Volunteer (Volunteer), ”noted the ruling bishop of the metropolis.
