Yaroslavl church will be given to the regional German community

Ярославскую кирху отдадут областной немецкой общине
The Lutheran Church in the city of Yaroslavl will be transferred to the 'Association of Germans of the Yaroslavl Region'. This decision of the city authorities was reported by the local news portal Yapper. Together with the historical building - the church was built in the middle of the nineteenth century - the German community will also receive the land plot on which the church stands. The local Evangelical Lutheran community has been using its premises for worship for many years - however, until now, the building was owned by the city, and only now members of the municipality's commission for the management and administration of municipal property voted for its transfer. The decision was made in accordance with the law in force for several years, which provides for the transfer of religious objects to believers. During the years of the revolution and the civil war, the building of the church was badly damaged, in the thirties of the last century it was transferred to state ownership. Since 1994, divine services have resumed here, and since the beginning of the last decade, the restoration of the historical appearance of the building has begun. An organ was installed in the church; today it hosts concerts of sacred music. Now, according to the results of the vote, held in the municipality of Yaroslavl, the church is actually returned to its original owner.
