The story of Greg Thomas, who single-handedly rebuilt the temple

История Грега Томаса, который в одиночку восстановил храм
We learn about most cases of miraculous healings from literature relating to past times. However, such stories still occur today.

The case in question belongs to our time: it happened only five years ago. A resident of the American state of Minnesota named Greg Thomas (Greg Thomas) had a wealth, a cozy home, a wonderful family, a favorite job, where he was appreciated. But one day it all suddenly lost value to him. On the very day when, after a thorough medical examination, doctors told the family of a fifty-seven-year-old man that Thomas had grade IV brain cancer - medicine in this case was powerless, and he had very little time to live. The world seemed to darken in Thomas's eyes. He was offered to quit his job in order to spend the rest of his days with his family. To hide from the sympathetic glances, which he had to constantly stumble upon, Thomas took the dog and wandered with it for a long time in the vicinity of his hometown, discovering new places for himself. During one of these walks, the man came across an old church. It was located in the cemetery - from its appearance it was clear that services had not been performed in it for at least several decades. The next day, Thomas came to the church again, trying to get inside the building - but the door was closed. And then he came again. He sat on the steps, and wondered why he it was needed - but there was no answer; instead of him there was a desire to read a prayer.

That he did - on his own behalf, adding to the canonical text a request to help him repair the church. Why a man whose days were seemingly numbered needed this, Thomas did not understand. But the intention was strong, and he returned to church again and again during his walks, sat down on the steps and pondered how he should proceed. ... Once an old acquaintance knocked on the cemetery watchman's house. He spoke about a man who wants to renovate a long-closed church at his own expense. All he says it takes is a key to her. The caretaker of the cemetery was surprised, but he still gave the key to the building, which everyone had long given up on. Thomas set to work energetically. First of all, he had to free the floor, walls and other parts of the interior decoration of the church from paint - in a century and a half it was applied fifteen times. Peeling off its layers one by one turned out to be a difficult task: Thomas's body was seriously undermined by radiation and chemotherapy. But the enthusiastic restorer did not give up.

On the contrary, he felt an incredible surge of energy when he found wooden benches in the church building and Christian statues. He also put them in order. Thomas finished the restoration of the church, but death did not go to him. Puzzled by this, he underwent a medical examination - and the results shocked the doctors and himself: complete remission of the disease! There was no more cancer in Thomas's brain. “He did it for me!” Thomas says, tears glistening in his eyes. Although he now has his own key to the church, he still enjoys sitting on the steps of the restored building for long periods of time. And read prayers to yourself. V. Sergienko
