The iconostasis for the Kozhinsky temple was delivered by water

Иконостас для Кожинского храма доставили по воде
A new iconostasis for the church in the homeland of the Monk Makarii Kalyazinsky (in the world of Matvey Kozhin) was made in the northern capital and delivered to the village of Kozhino in the Kashinsky urban district of the Tver region. As the Tver news agency TIA clarifies with reference to the diocesan press service, the iconostasis was made in preparation for the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the uncovering of the relics of the revered saint, which will be celebrated on June 8, 2021.

Petersburg artists Boris Robenko and Marat Tazhibaev worked on the iconostasis. Then the wooden frame and the icons of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Most Holy Theotokos and the revered saints, printed on plastic, were delivered from the city on the Neva to Kashin, and from there, along the Kashinka River to Kozhino: the waterway for such an oversized cargo turned out to be optimal from the point of view of logistics. The installation of the iconostasis was carried out directly at the place of its installation in the church.
Earlier, on the site of the Kozhin church, there was a wooden church in which both Saint Macarius himself and his relatives were baptized and married. A stone church in its place was built on the initiative of a local native Ivan Vasilyevich Kozhin and completed in 1732. His main throne was consecrated in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, and the side chapel is in the name of the Monk Makarii Kalyazinsky. Until the revolutionary events of 1917, crowded processions of the cross were performed to the church in the homeland of the revered saint; more than once turned into Kozhino and the famous Volga religious procession.
In the sixties of the last century, during Khrushchev's persecution of the Church, the historic house of prayer was closed, and its bell tower was destroyed. Only from the beginning of this century, through the efforts of caring believers, the temple began to gradually be restored. However, even today it is in dire need of restoration. In the meantime, the nun Fomaida is looking after the building.
The installation of the new iconostasis took several days. The structure was assembled on the wall separating the altar from the main interior of the temple. Perhaps the most touching moment was when the large icon of the Monk Makarii Kalyazinsky was unpacked and installed: a lamp was lit in front of it, and the audience sang the troparion and glorification of the heavenly patron of the Tver land.
