Hegumen from Jerusalem appointed abbot of the monastery on Ganina Yama

Игумен из Иерусалима назначен наместником монастыря на Ганиной Яме
Hegumen Leonty (Kozlov), who for the last five years served as a member of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, became the governor of the men's monastery of the Holy Royal Passion-bearers on Ganina Yama. The new appointment was announced by the press service of the Yekaterinsburg diocese.

Abbot Leonty is forty-eight years old. He graduated from two civilian universities and has a mundane major in aircraft construction. In 1999, after graduating from the Moscow Theological Seminary, he continued his studies at the University of Patras in Greece. Later, Abbot Leonty taught Ancient Greek at the Moscow Theological Academy, and General Church History at the icon-painting school attached to it. Taking monastic vows back in 2000, in 2010 he was elevated to the rank of abbot. And three years after that, his ministry in the Holy Land began. Recall that the previous acting vicar of the monastery on Ganina Yama was Bishop Yevgeny (Kulberg), a former vicar of the Yekaterinburg diocese. The temple complex and the monastery were built where the bodies of the family members of the last Russian emperor were thrown into the mine. Every year this place is visited by thousands of pilgrims who come here both from all over Russia and from other countries of the world. According to a number of historians, the remains of the Royal Passion-Bearers were later transported from Ganina Yama to the nearby Piglet's Log and secretly buried there.
