A particle of the relics of St. John of Shanghai will be transferred to the Sanaksar Monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin from California - Izvestiya Mordovia reports. Saint John of Shanghai and San Francisco is one of the outstanding spiritual leaders of the Russian diaspora. The relics of the great Orthodox missionary will be handed over to the inhabitants of the monastery in Mordovia by the president of the Russian charitable foundation of St. Boniface, Natalia Mezentseva. According to her, the transfer of the shrine is a kind of reciprocal gift. On February 9, the icon of the Holy Righteous Theodore Ushakov with a particle of his relics was handed over to the Cathedral of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow' in San Francisco. The rector of the cathedral, Archbishop Kirill (Dmitriev) of San Francisco, has long offered up prayers about the discovery of just such a shrine on American soil. After March 10, a particle of the relics of St. John of Shanghai will go to Mordovia, to the Nativity of the Theotokos monastery located in the Temnikovsky region of the republic. Let us recall that the relics of the famous Russian naval commander, admiral, canonized with the rank of holy righteous warrior Fyodor Ushakov, nephew of the founder of the monastery, the Monk Theodore of Sanaksar (in the world - nobleman Ivan Ignatievich Ushakov), according to his lifetime desire, reside in this monastery.
