The chapel, which used to belong to the hospital, the authorities of the Italian Bergamo decided to sell to the local Muslim community. This decision of the city administration is reported by Regnum with reference to the Askanews news agency. The Bergamo authorities have estimated the value of the property at 418 thousand euros. Representatives of the city's Muslim community do not hide the fact that they plan to use the chapel premises for its intended purpose - religious meetings of adherents of Islam will be held there. Oppositional public figures in Italy ironically remarked about such a decision by the Bergamo administration that it “scored a year in its own net from the center of the field”. On the one hand, the authorities allegedly seek to prevent the excessive spread of Islam in a European country, on the other hand, they are selling to Muslims a chapel, and not abandoned, but operating, where Christian services are currently being held.
