The Argentine Chamber Choir will sing under the vaults of churches in St. Petersburg and Peterhof

Аргентинский камерный хор споет под сводами храмов в Петербурге и Петергофе
The line between ecclesiastical and secular art is difficult, sometimes impossible, and, by and large, is it necessary? Singing groups from ancient monasteries go on tour around the world, and academic choirs perform spiritual chants under the arches of Christian churches. Someone like this may not be to their liking, but in our time it has become a common occurrence. The quality of the performance is much more important - and, of course, the feelings that the choristers put into their art.
On May 22 and 23, in St. Petersburg and the most ceremonial of all its suburbs, a cultural event will take place, very interesting even by the local exacting standards. In two active Orthodox churches - the icon of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow' and the Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Peterhof, the chamber choir 'Likuy, Bariloche' from Argentina will perform, which will perform both spiritual chants and folk songs, mainly of Christian content ...
The choir from South America is interesting not only and not so much for its geographical distance from Russia. Likuy Bariloche was founded in 2008 by Olga Lyudkova. Today it unites the descendants of Russian émigrés and Argentines, who are in love with the Russian song and, more broadly, with the Russian culture. Although, of course, there are also songs by Argentinean authors in the choir's repertoire. The chamber ensemble of twenty three people was awarded with a diploma from the Center national glory and the Fund of St. Andrew the First-Called 'For the popularization of the traditions of Russian choral art.'
Likuy, Bariloche is already familiar to many Russian connoisseurs of choral singing. Three years ago, the first singing teleconference between Russia and Argentina, 'A Song Connecting Hearts', was held, where a group from the resort town of San Carlos de Bariloche performed with great success. Then there was an invitation to Russia and getting into the top three at the Crystal Chapel festival in Moscow in the Mixed Choirs nomination. In the same 2017, the choir delighted the citizens of St. Petersburg with its skill, performing at the Easter festival and at several other venues in the city. The townspeople were especially impressed by the performance by the chorus of the famous 'Hymn to the Great City', which sounded in Russian.
It must be said that in his own country 'Likui, Bariloche' is widely known, and his work is officially recognized as 'of cultural interest' - this status was assigned to the team by the administration of the province of Rio Negro. And the Senate of Argentina honored the choir with the high national award named after Domingo Faustino Sarmiento.
Likuy Bariloche has prepared an impressive program for its current arrival in Russia. It includes thirteen numbers. These are 'Christ Anesti', the Christmas carol 'The Most Pure Virgin' (Christmas carols), 'Rejoice to the Virgin Mary' and 'In the prayers of the vigilant Mother of God' by Sergei Rakhkhmaninov, 'Bring God my prayer' by A. Arkhangelsky, 'Now strength Heavenly 'by A. Sheremetev,' Under Your Grace 'by Nun Juliana,' Seek God 'by A. Zubrich, folk' Thin Rowan 'in Yekimov's adaptation,' Cracks of Love '(En los surcos de amor) by Gvastavino, a song of the Mapuche Indians from Patangonia “The Coming of Spring” (Kadu valum), tango Los Mareados ”by Karos Gobiana - and, of course, the already mentioned“ Hymn to the Great City ”by Glier, without which the choir's performance in the northern capital of Russia would be incomplete.
The choir 'Likuy, Bariloche' starts performances on May 22 and 23 - at 18:00.
