A giant icon of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity made of Ural stones and glass was consecrated on the Great Feast of Pentecost in the Trans-Ural city of Kurgan. This is the largest mosaic image of the Triune God of all known to this day: its dimensions are eight meters in height and three and a half in width. The newly consecrated image adorns the wall of a church under construction on Trinity Square. The icon is located at a height of about 20 meters from the ground.

The rite of consecration of the icon was performed by Metropolitan Daniel of Kurgan and Belozersk. “It is important that both the temple and the icon are located on the road along which people enter and leave Kurgan,” Vladyka noted in his archpastoral speech.

As the official website of the city newspaper 'Kurgan and Kurgantsy' reminds, the new temple is being built next to the place where the Trinity Church built in the 18th century was located. The prototype for the architects who then built the temple was the famous Church of the Intercession on the Nerl of the 12th century. In 1957, the historic building was blown up by the order of the godless government. Work on the construction of a new house of prayer on the banks of the Tobol River began in 2017 and is now close to completion. The church will have two side-chapels: the lower one, in honor of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos 'Kazan' and the upper one, in the name of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity. The fifteen-meter iconostasis of the main chapel will be decorated with hand-painted icons.
