Franciscan bishop, the son of Charles II of Anjou, King of Naples. He was also related to King St. Louis IX of France and St. Elizabeth of Hungary. Louis was held for seven years as a hostage for his father. Ordained at twenty-three, he became a Franciscan and later served as bishop of Toulouse, France, but only for six months. He died at a young age. Louis was canonized in 1317.
