Slave who became abbot of Aurnont, near Troyes, France. He was the son of a Roman official taken prisoner by King Clovis I's army and sold into slavery. Ransomed by Aventinus, the abbot of Aumont Abbey, he became a monk there and then abbot. Fidolus is also called Fal or Phal, and the abbey was renamed for him.
