Franciscan martyr of Japan. He was born in Aquilar del Campo, in Old Castile, Spain. Educated in law at Salamanca, Apollinaris entered the Franciscans and was sent to Japan in 1614. He served as superior of the Franciscan mission until his arrest in 1617. Confined in the prison of Omura until 1622, Apollinaris was burned alive on September 10 of that year.
