Martyrs of Samosata

Feastday: December 9

Seven martyrs who refused to join in co-Emperor Maximian's pagan rites at Samosata. The martyrs were local magistrates Hipparchus and Philotheus and their converts: James, Paragrus, Abibus, Romanus, and Lollian. They were crucified for not celebrating Maximian's victory over the Persians.
