Antoine Chevrier was a French priest of the nineteenth century. Founder of the Work of the Prado, it is recognized by the Catholic Church.
Antoine Chevrier in 1850 was appointed vicar of the Guillotičre district in Lyon. This is a neighborhood of the poorest workers. In 1856, he had the intuition of having to serve the poor. In 1860, Father Chevrier rented and then bought an old ballroom. He set the ballroom into a chapel and supports "the young adolescents of both sexes abandoned at a young age and who were excluded from participation in school lessons and those of the parish" for 6 months.
Father Chevrier decided in 1866 to found the Prado a "clerical school." In Lyon, he founded the Association of Priests of the Prado. It housed only four priests and some sisters at his death in 1879. Father Chevrier, who died at age 53, is buried in this chapel, on the street that now bears his name.
Today, the Association of Priests of the Prado is present in fifty countries. Prado's family includes, in addition to the Association of Priests of the Prado is a secular institute, a group of sisters members of a society of apostolic life, a group of dedicated lay people (men and women), and also groups together permanent deacons and many lay people./p>
