Martyr of Japan and Dominican missionary. Angelus was born in Lucca, Italy. He entered the Dominican Order, studying at Valencia, Spain, and prepared for the foreign missions. He was sent to the Philippines and then to Japan. Taken in the persecution of Christians conducted by the Japanese government, Angelus spent four years in prison in Omura. He was then burned to death in Nagasaki, one of the Martyrs of Japan.
