St. Eutropius

A companion of St. Denis of Paris, France. A Roman, he lived in a cell in a rock near Saintes. One of his converts was Eustelle, the daughter of the local Roman governor. Enraged over his daughter's conversion, the governor had Eutropius' head split open with an axe. He is revered as the first bishop of Saintes, martyred.
