Convent in honor of the icon of the Mother of God 'Reigning'

In the deputy western of the Russian regions, the Kaliningrad region, among the picturesque landscapes of the Polesskiy district, there is the village of Izobilnoye. Here, on the territory of the former German estate, there is a nunnery in honor of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos 'Sovereign'. During the years of Perestroika, the old estate, along with buildings for various purposes, was bought by the Russian Orthodox Church. On this territory acquired from the local state farm, a new parish was established, which was assigned to the Nikolsky convent in Kaliningrad. Soon, women and girls began to arrive in Izobilnoye, seeking monastic life. When the temple was still under construction, a female community was gradually formed.
The construction of the temple took about five years. The consecration of the church in honor of the Sovereign Icon of the Mother of God took place on May 27, 2006. And less than three years later, by the decision of the Holy Synod, the newly formed parish was transformed into a nunnery in honor of the same venerated icon of the Mother of God. The nun Antonina (Makeeva), who previously headed the community of sisters of the St. Nicholas convent in Kaliningrad, was confirmed as the abbess of the new monastery.
Through the efforts of the sisters, the monastery in the village of Izobilnoye is more and more adorned from year to year. Rural landscapes around the picturesque courtyard are the best conducive to reflection and prayer. Therefore, many pilgrims come here, in the outback, - a cozy hotel was built especially for them. In the middle of the territory of the monastery there is a pond, recently chosen by a swan couple.
As one of the nuns of the monastery, nun Ambrose (Khromova), notes, although according to the words of the holy fathers, one can be saved (as well as perish) everywhere, it is clearly felt that the monastery in honor of the icon of the Mother of God 'Sovereign' prostrated the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos.
