About object
In 1579, on Holy Saturday, the Turkish authorities in Jerusalem prohibited the Greek Patriarch Sophronius and other Orthodox believers from entering the Church of the Resurrection for traditional worship and receiving the Holy Fire. The Turkish guard blocked their entrance to the temple and the Christians were forced to pray outside, but the blessed fire did not descend into Kuvukliya for several hours. Suddenly, lightning struck from the temple pillar, and the candles of those praying outside were lit. The crack left in the column after being cut by the Divine Flame is still visible to all pilgrims. And from that time to this day, anyone who wishes can enter the Church of the Holy Sepulcher to make a prayer and turn to God.
In the Column cut by the Holy Fire, we put a letter to God , which can be written online on the website of our project.
