The exposition "The Royal Family: Love and Mercy" presents more than 200 historical photographs depicting the life and service of the family of Nicholas II. These photos are an important testimony of a whole epoch in the life of Russia.
Thematically, the exhibition is divided into three blocks:
- Love and Family: the love story of Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna, bright and sensual moments in the life of the royal family, warm relationships with children.
- Public service of Nicholas II: patriotic duty of the last Russian emperor, active reforms and strengthening of national welfare.
- Deeds of mercy: charitable and patronage activities of the royal family, help to neighbors and self-sacrifice.
Earlier the grand opening of the photo exhibition was held on March 12 with a large crowd of visitors in the building of the Cultural Center of the National Research University Higher School of Economics on Pokrovsky Boulevard, where it was open for a week.
It should be noted that the complex of buildings where the exhibition was held has a bright history. In different years the buildings housed colleges, archives and institutes, each of which brought new elements to the architecture, interiors and landscape. The first mention of the house 21/4 on Staraya Basmannaya in Moscow is in the plan of the Moscow court of Kriegs Commissar Pyotr Ivanovich Demidov in 1791. It hosted a ball on the occasion of the coronation of Emperor Nicholas I. Then this complex was passed from hand to hand to different eminent people. Since 1885 it has been rebuilt for various colleges. In 2010 it was transferred under the management of the Higher School of Economics. Now the Faculty of Humanities of the University is located here.
After the grand opening a tour was conducted to familiarize with the building. by the exhibits of the exhibition.
