According to the republic's Health Ministry, 20 people were killed and 26 injured. The condition of seven wounded is assessed as serious.
According to the Interior Ministry, 16 people - 13 wounded policemen and three civilians - have been taken to a hospital in Makhachkala.
Dagestan has declared mourning from June 24 to 26, the Interfax news agency reported.
