On August 16, 2024, the Solovetsky State Historical, Architectural and Natural Museum-Reserve hosted the opening of the exhibition «Crimean War. Feats of the Solovetsky monastery» dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the heroic defense of the monastery during the attack of the British.
In the summer of 1854, the British military steamers «Brisk» and «Miranda» armed with 60 guns, attacked the Solovetsky monastery. The monastery, which was much inferior in armament, withstood the siege, and its defenders became a model of fortitude and heroism.

We all know that such a stand, a firm response of two first-class frigates and their commanders to the ultimatum and threat — these are historical results.
