The question of the relevance of teaching Church Slavonic in general education institutions aroused a lively discussion. E.V. Makarova shared her experience of teaching Cyrillic paleography in a secular school. Professor of MSU Doctor of Philological Sciences M.Y. Sidorova noted that the teaching of the Cyrillic paleography in secular schools is a very important part of the teaching of the Church Slavonic language. In order to introduce Church Slavonic in schools, it is necessary to solve the problem of compiling textbooks, as well as professional training and methodological support for teachers.
In the opinion of the RPA rector A.V. Shchipkov, the introduction of the Church Slavonic language into the school program will contribute to the restoration of the transmission of centuries-old cultural and spiritual experience of the people, which was wrongly abandoned during the Soviet period of Russian history.
