On the Week of Orthodoxy, March 24, 2024, His Holiness Patriarch of Serbia, Msgr. Porfirije served the Holy Liturgy in the Church of St. Sava on Vračar.
On a great day for the Holy Church, Patriarch Porfrij addressed the faithful with an instructive sermon: - The First Sunday of Great Lent is a remembrance of an event that has been called the Victory of Orthodoxy , the victory over all heresies and false teachings that contradicted the words of Christ, the sermons of the Holy Apostles and the truths of faith that were formulated at the Seventh Ecumenical Council. With the victory over the iconoclastic heresy in 842, we were given the opportunity to depict on icons the image of the Son of God and to worship His image and the images of God's favorites, thus revealing the basic truth of our faith that the Logos became flesh. This gives us the possibility that man by grace can be deified, not by nature, but by the grace and direction that God has left to man as the purpose of our existence.
