On March 3, 2024, the photo exhibition "Love and Mercy" opened in the Archondarium of the Holy Trotsky Danilov Monastery.
The exhibition presents historical photos reflecting the participation in the deeds of love and charity of the family of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II. With the outbreak of World War I, the Empress and the senior Grand Duchesses graduated from special courses for sisters of mercy and served in infirmaries and hospitals throughout the war.
The Tsarskoye Selo hospital was re-equipped to receive the wounded. Alexandra Feodorovna together with her elder daughters Olga and Tatiana assisted in operations, performing all the duties of nurses.
The author of the exhibition, Hieromonk Ignatius (Shestakov), a resident of the Moscow Sretensky Monastery, prepared photographs depicting the nursing service of the royal family and those close to them.
The first guests of the exhibition were the staff of the St. Luke's Branch and the Pereslavl sisters of mercy, the confessor of the sisters Archpriest Andrei Ufimtsev.
The exhibition is a gift of the help service "Bogodel'e" of Danilov Monastery on the first anniversary of the Pereslavl diocesan Sisterhood of Mercy.
Fr. Ignatius conducted an excursion and told the sisters in detail about the history of the pictures.
The exhibition will last until March 30.
Available daily from 09.00-18.00. Entrance is free.
