With the blessing of Metropolitan Vasily of Ekaterinodar and Kuban, head of the Kuban Metropolis, an ark with a part of the Belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be brought to the city of Krasnodar, according to the website of the Metropolis.
The Belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the greatest shrines associated with the life of the Most Pure Virgin. According to legend, She herself wove it from camel's hair and wore it until Her Assumption. The heirs of the two widows who received the Belt from the Mother of God, the relic was passed from generation to generation, and from the IV century it was in Constantinople, enclosed in a golden ark with a royal seal and placed in the Blachernae Church. In the X century the Belt, already glorified by miracles, was divided into parts. One of them is now kept on Mount Athos, in the Vatoped Monastery.
The Ark with a part of the Belt of the Most Holy Mother of God will be from July 11 to 14 in the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Krasnodar (65 Frunze Street). The meeting of the relic, which will be headed by Metropolitan Vasily of Ekaterinodar and Kuban, will take place on July 11 at 11:00. Every day near the relic will be held prayer services with akathist.
Bringing the ark with a part of the Belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary is organized by the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs within the educational program "Spiritual Connection". The stay of the relic in the Ekaterinodar and Kuban Diocese will be accompanied by an extensive educational program for young people.
