A photo exhibition about the Royal Family opened in California

В Калифорнии открылась фотовыставка о Царской семье

Burlingame, May 20, 2024

On May 19 in Burlingame, California, USA, an exhibition of photographs was opened in honor of the birthday of Sovereign Nicholas II at the Church of All Saints in the Land of Russia Who Shone.

Photos and text materials for the exhibition were provided by the Moscow Sretensky Monastery and the Mogilev exhibition project The Royal Family.

The rector of the church, Archpriest Stefan Pavlenko, comes from the clergy. His father, as a seminary student, personally saw the Sovereign during the visit of the royal family to the South of Russia during the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov House.

"Dad saw it up close and was very impressed by it. He carried the memory of that event in his heart through his life. He used to tell me that the thing he remembered most about The sovereign remembered his eyes, eyes and eyes again - a very penetrating look that touches the soul," wrote Father Stephen in an interview with the portal Orthodoxy.ru.

An amazing story is connected with this temple. The original image of the myrrh-colored icon of Tsar-Martyr Nicholas II was written here. One of the parishioners, Ia Dmitrievna Schmidt, had a dream in which she saw an icon depicting Emperor Nicholas II in the Grand Ducal attire. Later, she asked the iconographer Pavel Nikolaevich Tikhomirov, who lived in California, to paint the icon she had seen.

In 1997, color lithographs of this icon were brought to Russia. In the St. Nicholas Almshouse of Ryazan a color photocopy was made and placed in a ciot. It went to a Moscow surgeon, Oleg Ivanovich Belchenko.
