In his response, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk thanked His Holiness Patriarch Porfiry for his care of the Russian Orthodox Church's Suburbs. He emphasized that he sees in this the continuation of the love and hospitality with which 100 years ago the Serbian people received the Russian exiles, who in the blink of an eye lost their homeland, found themselves far from their relatives and friends, without means of subsistence, but preserved the most precious thing they had, the holy Orthodox faith. As Metropolitan Anthony noted, it was in Belgrade that the Russian refugees had the opportunity not only to organize parish life, but also to build a church in honor of the Most Holy Trinity, which is now the seat of the Russian Orthodox Church under the Serbian Patriarchal Throne, as well as a visible monument to the good relations between the two Churches, countries and peoples.
Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations conveyed the gratitude of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to all those who worked for the organization of the anniversary and the beautification of Holy Trinity Church, and with the blessing of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church presented patriarchal awards.
