The miracle-working icon of the Mother of God "Healer" is brought to Alma-Ata

On May 17, 2024, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the wonderworking icon of the Mother of God «Healer» arrived in the southern capital of Kazakhstan  — the city of Alma-Ata. Bringing the great shrine, glorified by numerous healings, — a gift to the Orthodox people of Kazakhstan on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astanaisky Diocese.

The miracle-working icon is accompanied by the Mother Superior of the Alexeyevsky Stavropegial Convent of Moscow, the head of the Legal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate Higumen Xenia (Chernega), the confessor of the Alexeyevsky Convent Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov, and the sisters of the monastery.

This ancient image of the Queen of Heaven, glorified by numerous phenomena of the power of God, resides in the Alexeevsky Nunnery in Moscow. The first mention of the image of the Mother of God with this name is found in the IV century. The icon, which will visit Kazakhstan, depicts the miracle of healing by the Blessed Virgin Mary of a seriously ill man.
