On November 16, 2024, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, an international scientific conference «Eastern Christianity on the Silk Road (in memory of P.P. Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky)» was held in the throne room of the spiritual, cultural and administrative center named after Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) in Almaty.

The scientific forum was held as part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astanaisk Eparchy and the 15th anniversary of the approval of the canonical status of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.
