On December 5, 2024, the Teaching Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church held a remote seminar on sharing experience in the field of scientific work. The event was intended primarily for higher theological education institutions implementing master's programs, as well as training graduate students. At the same time, all theological schools of the Russian Federation could take part.

The seminar invited vice-rectors for scientific and theological work, heads of postgraduate and master's programs, researchers, scientific supervisors (consultants) of master's and postgraduate students of higher theological schools.

The webinar was opened by the Chairman of the Training Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church, Rector of the Church Postgraduate and Doctoral School named after Saints Cyril and Methodius Propriest Maxim Kozlov. The priest welcomed the participants of the forum and spoke about the scientific component and further prospects of the project «Memory of the Church», which is currently being actively implemented by the Training Committee together with the higher spiritual educational institutions of the Russian Church.

Pro-Rector for Scientific Work of the All-Church Postgraduate School and E.A. Pilipenko introduced the participants of the webinar to the organization of scientific work at the OCAD, starting from master's degree to doctoral studies. 

Pro-Rector for Theological Research at the Moscow Theological Academy Archpriest Alexander Zadornov highlighted current issues of organizing and conducting scientific events at theological schools.

Director of the Postgraduate School of Sretensky Theological Academy Z.V. Makarovskaya shared her experience in preparing and conducting the final certification of graduates of the SDA postgraduate school according to the rules established by the Federal State Requirements.

Pro-Rector for Scientific and Theological Work St. Petersburg Theological Academy Archpriest Konstantin Kostromin presented a picture of the development of scientific journals at St. Petersburg Theological Academy, and also shared his thoughts on the future prospects for the development of scientific publications in general.

Pro-Rector for Scientific and International Work at Orthodox Svyato-Tikhonovsky Humanitarian University Archpriest Konstantin Polskov made a report on building a unified trajectory of scientific work at PSTSU: from master's to postgraduate studies. 

Pro-Rector for Scientific and Methodological Affairs Priest Konstantin Reva presented the experience and perspectives of studying the heritage of a theological seminary as a form of organizing the scientific work of students.

At the end of the seminar, V.N. Rogatin, Head of the Department of Islamic Studies of Kazan Theological Seminary, and E.S. Rogatina, Associate Professor of the Department of Islamic Studies of KazDSS, spoke about the state, problems and prospects of development of Islamic studies in the spiritual school.

Summarizing the work, the chairman of the Training Committee thanked all the speakers and participants of the forum, noting that the issues raised today at the webinar are important for the further development of scientific work in the theological schools of the Russian Orthodox Church. And that meetings of this kind are very useful: they help us to understand what common concerns we are forming, and at the same time, what new challenges we may face in the near future. Father Maxim also expressed confidence that each of the participants took away something important from their joint work today and informative.

The Training Committee seminar was very informative, so much so that, as a result, the participants compared it to advanced training courses on the organization of scientific work in theological schools.

The webinar was attended by 75 representatives of 37 higher theological schools of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Training Committee.
