Holy Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia took part in the traditional solemn ceremony.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives of traditional religious denominations of Russia, members of public and youth organizations, including the All-Russian Student Rescue Corps, the Foundation «Defenders of the Fatherland», the Committee of Families of Fatherland Warriors, the Association of Veterans of the National Defense Forces, the All-Russian People's Front, the Yunarmia» movement, the Vympel» center, the Russian Search Movement, and the Movement of the First» community. The president spoke briefly with them, reports website of the President of Russia. 

The Day of National Unity, celebrated in Russia on November 4, was established in memory of the liberation of Moscow from foreign invaders in 1612 by the people's militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky.
