The sacred flame was delivered to Warsaw

Священный огонь доставили в Варшаву
It has become the custom of our local church to bring the Holy Fire from Jerusalem to Warsaw every year on Holy Saturday. This year, as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of church independence, for the fifteenth time the Holy Fire from the Basilica of the Resurrection in Jerusalem was brought to the Orthodox Church in Poland. The blessed fire appears on Great Saturday in the tomb of the Savior. The rite of light is headed by the Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem.

On Saturday evening, May 4, 2024, the blessed fire was handed over to His Eminence Metropolitan Savva by Bishop Paul of Hainov, who led this year's delegation to Jerusalem.

Representatives of dioceses and Orthodox parishes of Poland took part in the ceremony of welcoming the holy flame. In a memorable speech, His Eminence expressed his joy at the presence of the Holy Flame in Poland, which is God's great gift to the whole world, especially to our local Church. Metropolitan Savva thanked all the persons and institutions involved in bringing the holy flame to Poland.

Before the Easter service, the blessed flame will be solemnly brought to the Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene in Warsaw and handed over to the faithful.
