November 13, 2024 marked 36 years since the beginning of the archpastoral ministry of Metropolitan Nifon of Philippopolis, representative of the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, rector of the Antiochian Palace in Moscow. Metropolitan Yuvenaly (Poyarkov), the oldest hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, came to congratulate Vladyka Nifon on this date.
At their fraternal conversation they recalled the great Russian hierarchs with whom they had served together, in particular, the late Metropolitan Philaret (Vakhromeev), who in 1988 participated in the diocesan consecration of Vladyka Nifon in Damascus.
The hierarchs also offered prayers for His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
Metropolitan Yuvenaly presented Metropolitan Nifon with a panagia as a token of their long-standing friendship and wished him successful completion of the construction of a Russian-style church that Metropolitan Nifon is building in his hometown of Zahle (Lebanon).
