The Orthodox Children's Center «Gorniy Posad» Ekaterinodar Eparchy hosted a two-day workshop on organizing children's and family recreation. It was attended by about 25 people from 10 regions of the country — the head of the direction of assistance to families of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Ministry Svetlana Cherenkova, head of the social department of the Ekaterinodar Eparchy Archpriest Demetrius Boltonov, rector of the church in honor of All-Merciful Savior of the village of Neftegorsk, Krasnodar region, Priest Demetrius Panteleev, chairman of the board of trustees of the center «Gorniy Posad» Alexander Yelin, executive director of the Orthodox Family Center «Lestvitsa» in Volgograd Marina Bikmametova and specialists in the field of family assistance.
In the course of the seminar Svetlana Cherenkova presented a project of affordable recreation and recuperation for families with many children. It has been implemented with the support of the Synodal Department for Charity since June 1. During the summer season, 13 families — about 80 people took part in it.

The first visit was organized in June for families of refugees affected by the conflict zone, including priests. Then eight families — more than 50 people — went to Anapa and to the Gagry for two weeks. The second visit took place in August. 5 families — 26 people — vacationed for two weeks in the House of Mercy at the Serafimov Church in Anapa. Among them was a family with a child with a disability and the family of a priest. The Synodal Department for Charity covered the costs of transportation to and from the destination for all the families. The host organization provided leisure activities, accommodation and three meals a day.
«It is very important for a family with children to restore resources in time, — Svetlana Cherenkova noted. — Therefore, with the support of the Synodal Department for Charity, benefactors and friendly organizations, we are trying to develop affordable forms of recreation and recuperation for large families. We would like to see more sites like "Gornyi Posad", so that families from all over the country can come to vacation for free. For this purpose we work with regional authorities and offer them to support families in need.
Director of the family multifunctional center on the basis of the Volgograd regional public organization «Many Children Volgograd», executive director of the Orthodox family center «Lestvitsa» in Volgograd Marina Bikmametova told about summer themed shifts in camps and the importance of educational work with children who rest in them.
The practical part of the workshop was conducted by representatives of the center «Gorniy Posad» — Chairman of the Board of Trustees Alexander Yelin and Priest Dimitri Panteleev. The participants of the workshop were able to see from the inside the organization of Orthodox patriotic recreation for children and assess its importance and usefulness.
«The center hosts recreational programs based on spiritual and moral values, — said Alexander Yelin. — Hundreds of children from Orthodox families of Ekaterinodar Diocese took part in them. We also organized recreation and recuperation of large families. And in November we will open a recreation center, where we will be able to receive more families with many children and families in difficult life situations.
The Orthodox Children's Center «Gorniy Posad» is located in the Apsheronsky district of Krasnodar Krai. It accepts children from Orthodox low-income and large families, from families in difficult life situations, as well as children in foster care.
