The panel was chaired by A.V. Shchipkov.

Tolstoy, head of the directorate of analytical radio programs of the TV channel «Zvezda» A.B. Shafran, representatives of Orthodox gymnasiums and teaching community of several regions of Russia took part in the work of the section.

A.V. Shchipkov.

Metropolitan Eugene and A.V. Shchipkov presented to the audience a textbook on the course «Social Studies» for senior classes of Orthodox gymnasiums, published in 2024. The work on the textbook was carried out by a team of authors led by A.V. Shchipkov. Shchipkova.

Metropolitan Eugene spoke about the history of writing the textbook, created with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The author's team has collected unique information material with substantial content that fully meets Russian educational standards. Chairman of the Synodal Department for Religious Education and Catechesis noted the fruitful cooperation of the author's team with the specialists of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the publishing house «Prosveshchenie».

The concept of the textbook was described by one of the authors, Doctor of Philosophy, Director of the Russian Expert School V.A. Shchipkov, who noted that before writing the textbook, the authors studied about 80% of previously published textbooks on social studies and found that all of them retain the liberal-Marxist model of describing society, where values are interpreted as a derivative of social relations. The authors abandoned this model and constructed the material in such a way as to show the traditional approach to Russian society, which implies that the sphere of culture, i.e. the sphere of traditional Russian values, is recognized as the key for society, and not just the behavioral patterns of certain social groups. Russian society is based on interpersonal and intergenerational solidarity, and Russia's social institutions are based on a specific cultural and historical foundation rather than on averaged globalist standards. The entire structure of this textbook is guided by this approach.

At the end of the session, all participants had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the textbook and receive the methodological kit.
