On December 27, 2023, Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, was received by Metropolitan Elijah of Beirut, hierarch of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, at his residence in Ashrafieh (an Orthodox district of the Lebanese capital).
At the beginning of the meeting, Archimandrite Philip warmly greeted Metropolitan Elijah, congratulated him on the Feast of the Nativity of Christ according to the New Julian calendar, presented him with a commemorative gift and sang the Troparion and Magnificat for the Feast of the Nativity of Christ.
In the course of a lengthy conversation they discussed issues of cooperation and interaction between the Metropolis of Beirut and the suburbs of the Russian Orthodox Church, the situation in the region and the holding of festive services.
D.A. Zelenin, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church in Lebanon, took part in the meeting.
