His Beatitude's representative, His Eminence Metropolitan Isikhios of Capitolias, Patriarchal Locum Tenens, spoke on behalf of His Beatitude as follows:
"Your Excellency Mr. Dimitrios Angelosopoulos, Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem,
Your Eminence the President of the School Board,
Your Eminence Mr. Scholarch,
Reverend Fathers,
Beloved Brothers in Christ,
Beloved students of our Patriarchal School,
Today is indeed a bright and glorious day as we celebrate the "No" of the Greek People in response to the Italian fascist forces that sought to abrogate our national sovereignty. The Greek people "with one mouth and one heart" responded heroically, not only with words, but also with action, such as mobilizing everyone to defend national sovereignty and preserve God-given freedom, according to the words of the Apostle Paul: "For through freedom, by which Christ has made us free, stand fast, and not again under the yoke of work."
The Greek-Christian conscience of the Greek people has once again shown its unwavering faith in the Holy Triune God and its trust in our Holy Trinity. The Holy Mother of God and Mother Mary, whose holy name each soldier incessantly recited, drawing strength to continue the holy struggle. The epic of 1940 is replete with testimonies of miraculous interventions of the Most Holy Mother of God, who, like a holy cloud, overshadowed Her faithful children.
So tonight we have come to the Patriarchal School to enjoy our beloved students' tribute to all those who have made spiritual sacrifices on the altar of national independence and freedom of our blessed nation.
On behalf of His Beatitude our Father and Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, we express our warm thanks to His Excellency Mr. Dimitrios Angelosopoulos, Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem, for his presence here and his multifaceted expressed interest in our Patriarchal School.
We also thank His Eminence Archbishop Isidore of Hierapolis, Chairman of the School Board, for his assistance to our School, Scholarch Archimandrite Matthew for the smooth running of the School, the teachers and of course the students who labored for this enjoyable event!
Let us exclaim:
Long live the "No" of October 28, 1940!
Long live the pious race of the Romans of the Orthodox!
Long live Greece!
Yes Long live our Holy Grove brotherhood!
In conclusion, His Eminence and Consul General Mr. Angelosopoulos thanked the Scholars, teachers and students for a successful event that evoked feelings of national pride, unity and bravery by the example of our ancestors.
