On June 9, 2024, the day of the memory of Righteous John the Russian, a pilgrimage trip of parishioners of the communities of the Moscow Patriarchate in the Republic of Turkey to the city of Urgup (formerly Prokopion) took place.

A Divine Liturgy was served in the cave where the Righteous John the Russian lived while in Ottoman captivity. The service was celebrated by Priest George Sergeev, who is responsible for organizing the feeding of the faithful of the Moscow Patriarchate in the territory of the Republic of Turkey, and was accompanied by clerics who feed the communities of the Moscow Patriarchate in Turkey.
More than 50 pilgrims from Antalya, Istanbul, Samsun, as well as Russian specialists working at the Akkuyu nuclear power plant under construction prayed at the service.
