On November 22, 2024, a distance seminar was held for representatives of higher spiritual education institutions and centers for the training of church professionals to exchange experience within the framework of the project «Memory of the Church».

In his welcoming remarks, Chairman of the Teaching Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church Protopriest Maxim Kozlov said that the opened September 1, 2024 portal of the project «Remembrance of the Church» has already presented 100 memoirs about the life of the Church and believers in the Soviet era. In December this year the portal will be enriched with another 50 new materials.

The unique reminiscences of Protopresbyter Vladimir Divakov have been added to the already published materials, including an account of a meeting between Patriarch Alexy I and Metropolitan Nicholas (Yarushevich) and Nikita Khrushchev.
The portal will be updated with new materials.
It was also noted that the project has a long-term character. The collection of memories about the life of the Church in the Soviet era was started by students of Russian theological schools (academies and seminaries). There are plans to expand it in the future of the range of participants: first, to involve in the project training centers for church professionals, and in the future — diocesan and parish youth clubs and movements, as well as a wide range of all parishioners who wish to participate in the collection of memories of their relatives and friends.

In the course of the seminar, T.E. Prusakova, a specialist of the Study Committee, gave editorial recommendations on the methodology of the survey and preparation of text materials to be sent to the editorial office of the project. Priest Alexander Starodubtsev, a specialist of the Training Committee, spoke about the peculiarities of collecting and submitting photos, videos, and other multimedia materials. P.E. Lipovetsky, Associate Professor of the Department of Church History at Moscow Theological Academy, shared the experience of implementing the «Memory of the Church» project at the MDA. Priest Seraphim Alpatov, Senior Assistant to the Vice-Rector for Educational Work, lecturer at the Department of Church Practical and Humanities at Sretensk Theological Academy, highlighted the experience of SDA students in interviewing respondents for the project «Memory of the Church». Priest Evgeny Shishkin, head of the Department of Church History of Stavropol Theological Seminary, shared the experience of the seminary's research work in the field of collecting and studying «oral history».

Participants and organizers of the seminar discussed a number of topical issues of work on further development of the «Memory of the Church» project.
The seminar was attended by 65 representatives from 38 educational organizations: theological academies and seminaries, the Church Postgraduate and Doctoral School named after Saints Cyril and Methodius, the Orthodox St. Tikhonovsky Theological Institute, and seven centers for training church specialists.
