The Russian Orthodox Church was represented at the international event by Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Relations between the Church and Society and the Media Vakhtang Kipshidze, Chairman of the Patriarchal Commission on the Family, Protection of Motherhood and Childhood Priest Feodor Lukyanov.

In his report «Initiatives of the Russian Orthodox Church aimed at international cooperation in the protection of spiritual and moral values in a multipolar world» Priest Feodor Lukyanov noted a trend visible to all — «the emerging high demand and relevance not only in Russia, but also in the near and far abroad countries, including the BRICS countries, of a new understanding of the basic fundamental values of humanity, their legal enshrinement and integration into the national legislation of the countries».

The priest drew attention to the fact that the legal crisis in which we find ourselves today, in the international sense, i.e. in the confrontation between the legal system of the West and our system, actually poses the following tasks for Russia: first, to survive, second, to ensure sovereignty, and third, to ensure prosperity, people's preservation and multiplication.

Priest Feodor Lukyanov informed the participants that with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, the Patriarchal Commission on the Family, Protection of Motherhood and Childhood together with the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate is implementing an initiative to develop and promote an international Convention on the Rights and Protection of the Family.

«The proposed Convention on the Rights and Protection of the Family — is a legal mechanism to protect the healthy identity of the individual and society at the international level, allowing, firstly, to raise the issue of the special value of the family, and secondly, of its subjectivity» — said Priest Feodor Lukyanov, calling on his colleagues from the BRICS countries to join the discussion of this initiative.

The work of the international round table «BRICS Public for Sovereign Development» ended with the adoption of a resolution-appeal on behalf of the civil society. The participants of the roundtable addressed the heads of state and government of the BRICS community with a proposal to consider the possibility of establishing the Kazan International Forum «BRICS Public for Sovereign Development» (with a frequency of once every two years) to consistently uphold the values and principles of sovereign development, build up the practices of humanitarian diplomacy, interethnic and interreligious dialogue, and involve a wide range of civil society institutions in the inter-civilizational interaction between the countries.
