Metropolitan Nikandr.

«Moscow architectural festival "Open City" — is a truly unique event in the life of our society, uniting both lawmakers and young architects, who are invited to creative work in the development of our capital, — noted Metropolitan Nikandr. — At the final exhibition this year, 13 architectural bureaus presented their reflections on the theme of the sacred dimension of the "Architecture of the Spirit" of the city, building, and person. I am glad that such a wide space for possibilities allows the Church to come to the forefront of modern architecture. I thank Moskomarchitecture and personally the Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov for fruitful cooperation and mutual understanding.

Festival in the field of architectural education and career has been held since 2016 on the initiative of Sergey Kuznetsov — Chief Architect of Moscow Moscow, first deputy chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of the capital (Moscomarchitecture), which is part of the Complex for Urban Policy and Construction. The main task of the festival — to attract architecture students in the real process, with the participation of leading experts from the architectural and development environment.

.

This year, the authors of the architectural concept of the exhibition and curators of the Open City Festival invited participants to think about a space that would unite people of different views.

«This year's theme is — architecture of the spirit. We decided to reflect on the theme of sacred architecture, the one that is created by people in order to realize the value system of good and evil. To analyze how architecture can express this dichotomy, and how these meanings influence the appearance of architecture. As part of this year's program, we searched for new and unusual ideas for sacred spaces, and formulated an answer to the question of whether sacred architecture should be cutting edge or traditional. All these reflections found expression in the final exhibition» — explained Sergey Kuznetsov.
