Feast of Tsakhzador in the Holy See of Etchmiadzin

On March 24, the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the solemn entrance of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem - Palm Sunday.

The holiday was celebrated many years ago by H.E. By the blessing of the Second Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin, the Day of Blessing of Children was declared.


On this occasion, at the end of the morning service, at the surroundings of the Mother See, under the solemnity of the Patriarch of All Armenians, the rite of Andastan and the rite of blessing of children were performed.


His Holiness blessed the children gathered at the Mother See, and the faithful were given the branches of the willow tree blessed during Andastan.


On the occasion of the Great Feast, the Congregation of the Mother See of St. Etchmiadzin participated in the sacred rite of the Liturgy at St. Gayane Monastery. The celebrant was the head of the Graduate School of Theological Seminary Gevorgyan. Bishop Daniel Fentgyan.

Bishop Daniel, referring to the council of the day, spoke about the significance of the past weeks, emphasizing that each Sunday is a milestone in the life of the Church and the believer, and with the council of Palm Sunday the door to the celebrations of the Resurrection of the Savior is opened.


At the end of the liturgy the Hierarch, having offered a prayer to God, addressed the faithful, urging them to follow the path of salvation, filled with the advice of Palm Sunday.


After the end of the Holy Liturgy about 600 Artsakh people, who arrived to the Mother See on pilgrimage from different Armenian dioceses, gathered in front of the bell tower of the Mother See Cathedral.

The Patriarch of the Artsakh Diocese His Excellency Fr. Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan led the ceremony of blessing the children, after which they were given Bible books, prayer books and crosses.


A reception was organized for the children of Artsakh and their families in the fraternal refectory of the Mother See, and a concert program was organized in the Armenian House of Echmiadzin.
