The situation here is very difficult at the moment; there are frequent air raid alarms. People are tired, some have wounded relatives and friends, some are homeless. Volunteers of the Synodal Department for charity nurses have been caring for the elderly and disabled in three temporary accommodation centers in Kursk Oblast. Since August 15, sisters of charity from the Church Hospital of St. Alexis have been caring for patients at the Kursk Regional Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital. Since September 3, volunteers of the Synodal Department for Charity have also been working in a hospital in Kursk. Volunteers of the Synodal Department and sisters of mercy of the Church Hospital of St. Alexis help in a hospital in the Belgorod region.
The Russian Orthodox Church has been helping the victims since the first days of the armed conflict. The Church has collected, purchased and transferred more than 3,820 tons of humanitarian aid to the conflict zone. More than 2,500 volunteers traveled to the war zone to care for hospital patients and provide social assistance to the victims.
