Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia consecrated the Church of Archangel Michael in the capital of Malaysia

On November 17, 2024, in the Week of the 21st Pentecost, in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, the great consecration of the Church of Archangel Michael took place. The solemn service was led by Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia Metropolitan Sergius of Singapore and Southeast Asia.

His Eminence was served by: Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta, Vicar of Singapore Diocese, and clergy of churches in Singapore and Malaysia: Archimandrite Pavel (Khokhlov), rector of Archangel Michael Church, Priest Evgeny Shmelev, Priest Seraphim Choi, Priest Demetrius Lavrentiev, Hierodeacon Yuvenaly (Maruschak), Deacon Michael Borodai and Deacon Demetrius Semash.

Afterwards, the Patriarchal Exarch celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church.

The service was attended by: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Malaysia N.M. Latypov, Director of the Russian House in Malaysia A.A. Potemkin, numerous Orthodox believers — regular parishioners of the temple, as well as guests of the parish from Singapore and other countries.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the rector of the church Archimandrite Paul (Khokhlov) addressed the Patriarchal Exarch with words of gratitude and presented the Archbishop with the following gift the icon of Archangel Michael.

In his response Metropolitan Sergius congratulated those gathered on the feast and the great consecration of the church, welcomed Mr. Ambassador and thanked the clergy and parishioners of the church for their work for the benefit of Holy Mother Church. Vladyka Sergius presented the Eucharistic vessels to the newly consecrated church.

At the end, a festive meal and the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Orthodox community of the Russian Orthodox Church in Malaysia took place in the courtyard of the temple.
