His Beatitude Patriarch of Antioch and All the East Mr.. Yovan held a dialogue lecture on "The Importance of Religion in Strengthening the Family and Society" on February 6, 2024 at the Al-Othman Mosque in Damascus, together with Sheikh Mohammed Al-Sayed Yovan, Minister of Religious Communities in Syria.
The event was part of the education and dialogue program organized by the Ministry of Religious Communities, which was attended by imams, preachers, Quranic teachers, religious scholars, metropolitans and priests. On this occasion, Patriarch Jovan spoke about the theological foundations of the Christian concept of marriage and the contemporary challenges facing families today. Patriarch Jovan also addressed some ethical issues in science and emphasized the urgent need to give priority to the care of the family today, more than ever before, given the psychological, material, spiritual and social aspects of modern society. - Our Church pays special attention to preserving the family and nurturing the joy of the Lord's presence in its life, recognizing that attacks and destabilization of the family threaten the cornerstone of our society," concluded Patriarch Jovan.
This was followed by a speech by Minister Al-Sayed, who commented on the views expressed, affirming that all the The family principles and foundations mentioned by His Beatitude the Patriarch are also fundamental aspects of Islamic education. The seminar ended with questions and speeches from the audience.
