Patriarch Porfiry talked to the Ambassador of Ukraine

Патриарх Порфирий поговорил с послом Украины
His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Mr.. Porfirje spoke with Mr. Putin at the Patriarchal Palace in Belgrade on November 5, 2024. Volodymyr Tolkach, Ambassador of the Republic of Ukraine.

Expressing his greetings, the patriarch recalled the centuries-old fraternal relations between the Serbian people and the people of Ukraine. The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church noted that for us, Orthodox Serbs, just as it is painful to know about the suffering of people in different parts of the world, it is even more painful to know that there are mutual fights all over Ukraine. - This is a triple pain. First, because the Orthodox are in conflict with each other; second, because there is great suffering and destruction; and third, because there are great mistakes in this country in solving the Church question, on which the Serbian Orthodox Church has a clear and repeatedly expressed position," said His Holiness Patriarch Mr. Porphyry.

Ambassador Tolkac expressed condolences to His Holiness and the Orthodox Serbian people in connection with the tragic death in Novi Sad, as well as words of gratitude for the Christian welcome of refugees from Ukraine.

The reception was attended by Archpriest Djordje Stojsavljevic, head of the Serbian Patriarch's Cabinet, and Ms. Olivera Jovanovic, editor-in-chief of the Serbian Patriarchate newspaper "Pravoslavlja".
