His Beatitude John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, received at the Patriarchal Headquarters in Damascus Patriarch Mora Ignatius Aphrem II, Syrian Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Supreme Head of the Ecumenical Syrian Orthodox Church. The meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the deep relationship between the two Churches and the importance of each of their roles in witnessing to Christ in the world, especially in the East, amidst the challenges and problems facing the world. The meeting also discussed the general situation in the Middle East, where its people are suffering losses from war, displacement and economic blockade. In addition, the meeting addressed the issue of the kidnapped Aleppo Metropolitans Paul Yazigi and Yohann Ibrahim, as well as the situation in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the urgent need to stop the unjust war against the Palestinian people.
